Rules and Regulations

  • Participation

  • All Indians, residents and non residents across the globe can participate.
  • The competition is open for bands as well as individuals.
  • Bands which participate, can have a maximum of 7 members.
  • No two bands which participate can have more than 2 members in common.
  • Individuals who participate are allowed a maximum of 2 assisting musicians.
  • Substitution of band members should be intimated to the organizing commitee and updated on the profile.

  • Theme

  • Desh Raag 2 will give a platform to Indian musicians to showcase their everyday struggles. Struggles which are small stories but have great impact. The music can speak about any issue but shouldn’t condescend the country and any nationalistic sentiments.
  • It should provide a solution or some ray of hope because we believe that without hope, there is no positive energy. And unlike the other uninspired people who can only curse the nation, we are here to be change makers who move a 1.3 billion nation with our songs!

  • Language
  • There is no bound on the language of the entries submitted.
  • In case of regional languages (other than Hindi & English), bands need to provide a line-wise and apt description of the lyrics in Hindi or English. Desh Raag organizing team holds the right to disqualify the entry in case of violation of the above.

  • Entries

  • Each participating band/individual is allowed to submit a maximum of three entries.
  • Each entry will be judged seperately.
  • One entry is defined as a single audio file with audio time less than 7 minutes. A total of 10 MBs per entry will be available to the bands.
  • The entry should be original in nature (Original lyrics and music) with the creative rights held jointly by the composers and Rakshak Foundation (owner of Desh raag).
  • The entries will be submitted online after a profile created by the participants (similar to an artist or band page).
  • Lyrics will be submitted along-with the compositions.
  • Lyrics can also be used (with appropriate credit given to the authors) from the Rakshak Foundation poetry database
  • Entries submitted in Desh Raag 1.0 won’t be entertained again as a part of Desh Raag 2.0.

  • Recording

  • The entries need to be recorded in a studio or home-studio (basic) setting.
  • Single track recordings of multiple instruments (cell phones and digicams) may not be clear enough to get through initial streamlining. Please use multi-track recording for better sound quality.

  • Judging

  • Expert review panel will choose the top 3 qualifying entries, which will enter the second and the final round. The finalists will be given a chance to perform live on a big stage in front of a huge audience from where a winner will be declared.
  • The number of bands performing live cold be less than ,greater than or exact 3 depending on the reviews of the judges.

  • Results

  • The complete decision making authority of Desh Raag lies with the organizing commitee. Once declared, results are final and binding.
  • Prizes will be withdrawn if the winner(s) are found to have no followed the rules and regulations

  • Copyright of music uploaded on Deshraag

  • Contestants allow ‘Rakshak Foundation (Organization holding Deshraag)’ to use the music for it’s events, promotion, publicity and other related activities after notifying contestent about it.
  • Rakshak Foundation may, if required, announce the list of contestants to media or eminent personalities for the benefit of Deshraag
