Rules and Regulations

  • Participation
  1. All Indians, residents and non residents across the globe can participate.
  2. The competition is open for bands as well as individuals.
  3. Bands which participate, can have a maximum of 7 members.
  4. No two bands which participate can have more than 2 members in common.
  5. Individuals who participate are allowed a maximum of 2 assisting musicians.
  6. Substitution of band members should be intimated to the organizing commitee and updated on the profile.
  • Language

The language of entries can be either Hindi, English or Sanskrit. We are working towards expanding to more languages in future.

  • Entries
  1. Each participating band/individual is allowed to submit a maximum of three entries.
  2. Each entry will be judged seperately.
  3. One entry is defined as a single audio file with audio time less than 5 minutes. A total of 10 Mbs per entry will be available to the bands.
  4. The entry should be original in nature (Original lyrics and music) with the creative rights held jointly by the composers and Rakshak Foundation (owner of Desh raag).
  5. The entries will be submitted online after a profile created by the participants (similar to an artist or band page).
  6. Lyrics will be submitted along-with the compositions.
  7. Lyrics can also be used (with appropriate credit given to the authors) from the Rakshak Foundation poetry database
  • Recording
  1. The entries need to be recorded in a studio or home-studio (basic) setting.
  2. Single track recordings of multiple instruments (cell phones and digicams) may not be clear enough to get through initial streamlining. Please use multi-track recording for better sound quality.

  • Judging
  1. Expert review panel will choose the top 7 qualifying entries, which will enter the second round. If the quality of top 7 submissions do not meet the standard as per judges, less entries will make up to the second round.
  2. In the second phase, a total of 6 hours per band will be given to record the songs in a  professional studio setting** leading to the creation of an album. After it’s launch and publicity, public review phase will commence. A final winner will then be decided.
  • Results
  1. The complete decision making authority of Desh Raag lies with the organizing commitee. Once declared, results are final and binding.
  2. Prizes will be withdrawn if the winner(s) are found to have no followed the rules and regulations
  • Copyright of music uploaded on Deshraag
  1. Contestants allow ‘Rakshak Foundation (Organization holding Deshraag)’ to use the music for it’s events, promotion, publicity and other related activities after notifying contestent about it.
  2. Rakshak Foundation may, if required, announce the list of contestants to media or eminent personalities for the benefit of Deshraag
